“There is no religion, no belief, greater than Life.”

The Sufi Way Shaykh Burhanuddin 12.12.24These simple words sum up Shaykh Burhanuddin’s teaching, the main intentions of which are to get to know oneself and to bring spirituality into one’s daily life. In his teaching, Shaykh Burhanuddin combines methods from his Sufi Tradition with contemporary knowledge of psychology.

As an appointed Shaykh (spiritual guide), he was trained to develop an eye to detect the expressions of beauty in life, whatever shape they may take. He was also taught gratitude for everything that he had and didn’t have, and an unshakable, joyful faith that everything — good or bad— comes from the same Loving Source, bringing a message and lesson for our evolution. For over thirty years he has been helping people to remember their own origin, destination, and their task on this Earth.

In this conversation with Juliana Cesano, National Secretary of The Theosophical Society in America, Shaykh Burhanuddin will discuss the many aspects of the Sufi tradition, including the practice of remembrance, how to awaken the intelligence of the Heart, the path of Love, the role of the teacher, personal anecdotes, and more.

Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann is a contemporary mystic of ancient tradition, called onto the Sufi path at a young age. He went through the classic dervish training under the direct guidance of the Master, and received direct transmission of the Naqshbandi Sufi Order, one of the most ancient and authoritative of the many existing Sufi Orders. Today, Shaykh Burhanuddin leads spiritual meetings and retreats worldwide in service of people’s spiritual needs. In addition, he is the author of three books: Il Cammello Sul Tetto (The Camel on the Roof), Il Derviscio Metropolitano (The Metropolitan Dervish) and Il Sufismo (Sufism). He is also a musician and the founder of the Dervish Orchestra.

This program will be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook, and our website on Thursday, December 12, at 7 p.m. CT.
